I remembered we have a classroom filled with this lantern during Christmas.
Materials needed:
- Paper, 2pcs
- Scissors
- Pen/pencil
- a String of thread
- Glue/Tape
- Bowl or any round object
Steps:
1. Draw a circle by tracing the mouth of the bowl
on the paper.
2. Cut off the circle.
3. Make 8 creases by folding the circle into 3.
4. Draw a slightly curve lines with a little
space from the edge alternately (see below picture).
5. On the tip of the paper, cut off a tiny piece to
make a hole then cut along the lines.
6. Unfold the circle.
7. Cut a small piece of paper, roll it and seal the
end with the glue.
8. Tie the piece of paper with a thread.
9. Pass the string of thread through the hole.
10. Repeat steps 1-6 to another paper. Put a small tape/glue
to the outermost part of the circle.
11. Place the circle with thread above the circle
with glue/tape. Make sure to align the creases.
12. Pull carefully the thread to stretch the lantern.
Here's the final lantern.
